Yvonne Prendergast
As an independent consultant since 2002 Yvonne’s focus is on promoting equality, diversity and social inclusion through undertaking community research, evaluation and capacity building within the statutory, private and third sectors.
Prior to working independently, Yvonne delivered a women’s rights policy and advocacy service for Salford Law Centre, managed and delivered domestic abuse projects, was Training Officer for the Big Life Company and had unpaid roles in a night shelter and teaching English in Sudan. This was preceded by an early career as a chemical engineer, which, along with Yvonne’s experience in community sectors has informed her drive to enable people of all backgrounds to develop their potential, access their rights and contribute to society.
Alongside Yvonne’s work experience, she brings postgraduate study in Women’s Studies and in Social Work. Significantly, she also has personal experience of cancer. This underlies her commitment and tenacity as a trustee with CSUK to ensure that everyone affected by cancer, particularly Black African and Caribbean people facing health inequalities, access vital support.
