Established in 2015, Can-Survive UK (CSUK) is an award winning small to medium sized charity providing culturally appropriate support and information primarily however not exclusively for African and Caribbean people diagnosed, living with or caring for a loved one with cancer.
You will work alongside passionate staff and volunteers who are keen to make a postive difference for people affected by cancer.

STRATEGIC HUBS LEAD
Salary: £24,765 (FTE £44,626)
Hrs: 21 per week
Contract: Fixed Term to April 2028

About the Role

Cancer Support UK is seeking a motivated and experienced leader to oversee the continued development and delivery of our Cancer Support Hubs across Greater Manchester.

This is a key operational leadership role responsible for ensuring high-quality, consistent and inclusive cancer support services. You will lead staff, oversee performance and quality, and ensure our hubs are well-positioned for future commissioned and funded delivery.

You will work closely with senior colleagues to strengthen service delivery, improve outcomes for service users, and ensure our hubs reflect best practice and meet the needs of diverse communities across Greater Manchester.

Purpose of the Role

To provide operational leadership for CSUK’s Cancer Support Hubs across Greater Manchester, ensuring high-quality, consistent and impactful service delivery. The postholder will lead staff, oversee performance and quality, support service development, and ensure hubs are prepared for commissioned and funded service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Service Delivery

  • Lead the day-to-day operational delivery and development of all CSUK Cancer Support Hubs
  • Ensure services are safe, effective and aligned with organisational objectives
  • Develop and implement hub delivery plans and performance frameworks
  • Monitor service quality, accessibility, inclusion and user experience
  • Identify and address operational risks and performance issues

 People Management

  • Provide direct line management to hub staff and sessional workers
  • Set objectives, carry out supervision and appraisals
  • Support staff development, training and wellbeing
  • Manage performance, capability and conduct issues in line with policy

 Performance, Quality & Reporting

  • Oversee monitoring and evaluation across all hubs
  • Ensure accurate collection of activity, outcomes and impact data
  • Produce monthly and quarterly reports for the CEO and Board
  • Lead continuous improvement and service review activity

 Strategic Development

  • Strengthen referral pathways and local partnerships
  • Identify gaps in culturally appropriate cancer support
  • Support volunteering and service user engagement initiatives
  • Ensure services align with Greater Manchester cancer and wellbeing strategies

 Commissioning Readiness

  • Work closely with the Strategic Partnerships & Income Lead
  • Develop case studies, evidence and service data for funding and commissioning
  • Contribute operational expertise to funding applications and proposals

Key Accountabilities

  • Performance and quality of all Cancer Support Hubs
  • Effective staff leadership and management
  • Delivery of agreed operational KPIs
  • Production of robust monitoring and impact evidence
  • Commissioning readiness of services

Additional Information

You will be required to:

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with policy
  • Work in accordance with all organisational procedures and legislation
  • Travel across Greater Manchester to hub locations and meetings
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the level of the role
  • You will receive regular supervision and be supported to identify and meet training and development needs.
