My name is Joan. I am the Cancer Support & Community Engagement Worker for Salford.

Due to my lived experience with family members that have been impacted by cancer, I decided I wanted to have a role that would be rewarding and to support other people in our communities to make a difference.

This is why I wanted to be a part of this organisation when the role was advertised.

Community members do not speak about cancer, and my role is to share my experience and knowledge, provide support with empathy, patience, understanding and providing that confidential and safe space for people to share their concerns, be listened to and heard whilst knowing that they are not alone.
